Everything is coming to a head here, and the wait is almost over. I couldn't wait any longer, it didn't seem like it was serving a purpose to continue delaying until a specific date. Other life factors might get in the way come the fated day anyway. You see not only am I starting off my campaign to release a new song every week for a year or until I run out of songs or start to get some attention. Which ever comes first you know. I know my last release was a quick collection of electronic music, this time around I am getting a little more personal. I have been writing songs for the past thirty years and for whatever reason never released anything. I was waiting till I found my voice I guess, or until I made the time to actually train it and learn how to sing properly. I mean no I'm no Meatloaf but I probably sound no worse than Dylan. I'm still on that journey, the whole thing.
As much as the convenience and ability to record at home has come a long way in thirty years, my ability hasn't. I just wanted to write songs now I am a multi instrumentalist, recording engineer, mixing engineer, mastering engineer, not to mention producer, publicist, graphic designer, blogger. There's probably a bunch of other things I should be doing and I don't have a clue what they are. It's one of those trade offs, the ability to do it yourself doesn't mean you want to have to do it all yourself. So bear with me on this journey to the top, from the darkest depths of blind ignorance on the bottom, I'm learning it all as I go.
Tomorrow begins what will be a whirlwind year of song releases and content creation, as I put together the formula to capture just a little bit of the attention out there thirsting for new, intelligent and inspired music. I suppose I will just have to approach it as a job. I don't know if I'll give it the ol' nine to five but I know I will be tending to it full time. That's way I thought I'd get a jump on it instead of putting it off for another two weeks. In two weeks I hope to be on the beach in San José del Cabo, soaking up the sun, being a tourist for a little while in a new town. You see that's the other big puzzle piece that just fell into place, my fiancée got a promotion to San José del Cabo. So once our new home is ready for us I will be driving the entire length of Baja California, from Tijuana, where I have been for the past 2 ½ years and Miriam has been her entire life, to the tip. Not a moment to late in my opinion of what is going on on the other side of the border, I'm glad they have a wall to keep them contained. I am sure I'll get some travel footage and lots of dog photos for content, I better or I'll start talking about politics.
So I'll remind you tomorrow again I'm sure that Birth of the King, by Jipsea Theredeye King comes out on January 30th and thus begins a year of new music, each week a new song. But don't worry if you miss a week they'll all be available here for you to listen to, or better yet download so you can listen whenever wherever the fancy strikes you.
